The Longest Short Week

Tuesday morning I was bright eyed and bushy tailed- knowing there were only four days of school this week. I swear, the four day weeks sometimes feel longer than normal weeks!

{one} dog days

Major thunderstorms were happening on Tuesday night, and therefore I was awakened every 45 minutes by my dog who is afraid of thunder. I thought letting him on my bed would help, but no. We still stayed up and paced the room. Thennnnn the next morning I locked myself out of my house while we were out walking. Talk about irritating! I blame the lack of sleep. I had to call school and tell them I was sitting in my front yard waiting to be bailed out. I didn’t get to school until 9:30. Adding to my to-do list: make a spare key.

Funny…he didn’t seem to mind at all.
{two} ice cream party

My first graders have been working on their final persuasive writing samples for their portfolios. They wrote a persuasive piece about why they think they deserve an ice cream sundae party. They don’t know me very well if they thought it would take any persuading for me to bring in ice cream. 🙂 I was so proud of them! Next week I’ll be posting all about our writing journey.

{three} retail therapy
After the whole night of no sleep/locking myself out of the house debacle, the only logical thing to do was go straight to TJ Maxx after school on Wednesday. Am I the only one who fills up my cart and then takes out most of the stuff before I pay?
{four} impressed with wordpress
I’ve used Blogger to host this teaching blog but I recently started playing with WordPress. I have to say- I wish I could switch. (I wonder if this blog will combust now that I’ve stated such blasphemy on Blogger!) But seriously- does anybody else feel that way? It has so many more features and it is so much easier to work with! Things that I spent days trying to write code for on Blogger, was already a feature available in one click on WordPress. I decided that since I am not invested in my lifestyle blog (coming summer 2013), I could switch that without losing followers, etc. Here is a sneak peek of what I am working on over there! I’ll let you know when it is live and ready!
{five} no weekend in sight
I have to work Saturday and Sunday night at the restaurant this weekend so this teacher needs to go to bed. I need to make the most of my Saturday morning…Farmer’s Market and running errands!
Goodnight friends! I hope you had a great week!

Sadly…I know what you mean. I checked out WP first and liked it a lot but came over to blogger because it seemed to network a bit better. Glad I'm here, but I'm with ya on the ease of WP. 🙂

I do exactly the same thing at the store. I will pick up everything I like as I go and then right before I am about to buy I get buyers remorse and I take 90% of it out. I guess Im too lazy to go and try to find it again so I take things as I go. Glad to have found your blog I am your newest follower.

Hi Sarah, I found you blog on the Five for Friday linky & I'm your newest fan & follower. I can't wait to read your post about your writing journey of the persuasive piece. I'm like you they wouldn't need to convince me to get an ice cream party, ice cream is my weakness. Happy to be a new follower.

Aww, you poor thing getting locked outside! Your dog is adorable, though.

I think if you want to switch to WordPress, it wouldn't be too bad. I'm sure you'd lose a few followers, but I think there's a way to switch without losing people who've signed up through a feedreader. I could be wrong, but I know some of the blogs I follow have switched and it's been easy to stay with them. Look into it! 🙂

I do the same thing at TJMaxx, Target, & Marshalls! I know the people that work at those stores have to hate me, even though I *TRY* to put the items back when I originally found them. Too funny!
